We have a strict procedure, which complies with the Care Quality Commission standards (CQC), for all medications received, stored, administered, disposed of or moved into or from the home. This ensures that there is no mishandling of medications.
In addition, the Medication Administration Records (MAR) is a sheet allocated for all Residents that are prescribed medication. Following this procedure and completing this record ensures that the correct dosage is given and at the correct times.
If a resident chooses to be responsible for their own medication then this is encouraged, albeit overseen by our Senior Care team and within a risk management framework. If a Resident is unable to or chooses not to be responsible for their own medication then our Senior Care Team will ensure they are administered correctly.
